Die Cutting

Hi Girls,
Today I'm posting about a discovery I found in the Hot Topics on Splitcoaststampers.  For me this was like a light bulb went on, and I though "Now why didn't I think of that". You know, we've all had this happen to us....maybe your light bulb has been on longer than mine, if so just skip this.
You know how your bottom plate (the one you use to cut with) on your Big Shot or what ever die cutting machine you use always bows and we're always having to flip it, or just put up with the cover in the plate. will in this weeks "Hot Topics" it talked about Self healing mats Here.  After reading and re-reading I ordered the  Dahle Ventage 10680 Self-Healing 5-layer cutting mat  9" X 12" .  It came last night, so I had hubby cut it in half so now I have two 9"x6" cutting mats... I did use a thin piece of cardboard for a shim, but let me say it Cuts Like a charm.... I am so please with it I had to post so maybe someone else will have a "Now why didn't I think of that" moment.

The Garden Gate Tea Room

Yesterday I took Mom to "The Garden Gate Tea Room" as I wrote in my previous post for her BD....
We have gone there several times now for "Special" occasions. And of course Mom turning 90 was diffently a "Special" occasion.
They starts serving at 11:30, we were there a little after 11:00 but the nice ladies saw us walking up and asked us to come in and have some Ice Tea while we waited, it was Hibiscus Cranberry Tea, Mmmmmmm with sugar crystals around the top of the glass...then they even served us some of the Sherried Creme of Carrot Bisque on the house while we waited too... How nice was that...  Now there were 3 or 4 other ladies that came in right behind us but we were the only ones that got the Royal treatment... We must have look "Hungry"... :)
Here's a pic of the Menu....

We had the Herb crusted Rosemary Baked Chicken Pie which we get every time we go then we always try something different... this time we had the Salmon Souffle Roulade, and OMG was that the BEST thing ever... So now the Salmon has been moved up in the 1st place on our list of things to get but the Rosemary Chicken Pie is a Very Close second.
Just so you know we each took half of the others meal so we got to have both... What a Treat!
No mater what we've had there it's always be 1st class and delish!

As more and more people came in we could tell there was a group of ladies having a High Tea.... so I had to ask our waitress about that and it sounds so good that Mom and I decided that next time we would have to try that.... she side we had to make reservations for that because everything is made that morning and fresh as can be...
We both are looking forward to our next visit!!!

Hobby Lobby.......

I never have posted anything like this before but it just upset me so I had to cut and past it.
I have checked Snopes and it is TRUE.
Here's the Snopes link if you want to check it yourself.

Here's the article;
A Letter from Hobby Lobby Stores CEO

By David Green, the founder and CEO of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.
When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature picture frames. Our first retail store wasn't much bigger than most people's living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we lived and worked according to God's word. From there, Hobby Lobby has become one of the nation's largest arts and crafts retailers, with more than 500 locations in 41 states. Our children grew up into fine business leaders, and today we run Hobby Lobby together, as a family.
We're Christians, and we run our business on Christian principles. I've always said that the first two goals of our business are (1) to run our business in harmony with God's laws, and (2) to focus on people more than money. And that's what we've tried to do. We close early so our employees can see their families at night. We keep our stores closed on Sundays, one of the week's biggest shopping days, so that our workers and their families can enjoy a day of rest. We believe that it is by God's grace that Hobby Lobby has endured, and he has blessed us and our employees. We've not only added jobs in a weak economy, we've raised wages for the past four years in a row. Our full-time employees start at 80% above minimum wage.
But now, our government threatens to change all of that. A new government health care mandate says that our family business MUST provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health insurance. Being Christians, we don't pay for drugs that might cause abortions, which means that we don't cover emergency contraception, the morning-after pill or the week-after pill. We believe doing so might end a life after the moment of conception, something that is contrary to our most important beliefs. It goes against the Biblical principles on which we have run this company since day one. If we refuse to comply, we could face $1.3 million PER DAY in government fines.
Our government threatens to fine job creators in a bad economy. Our government threatens to fine a company that's raised wages four years running. Our government threatens to fine a family for running it’s business according to it’s beliefs. It's not right. I know people will say we ought to follow the rules; that it's the same for everybody. But that's not true. The government has exempted thousands of companies from this mandate, for reasons of convenience or cost. But it won't exempt them for reasons of religious belief.
So, Hobby Lobby and my family are forced to make a choice. With great reluctance, we filed a lawsuit today, represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, asking a federal court to stop this mandate before it hurts our business. We don't like to go running into court, but we no longer have a choice. We believe people are more important than the bottom line and that honoring God is more important than turning a profit.
My family has lived the American dream. We want to continue growing our company and providing great jobs for thousands of employees, but the government is going to make that much more difficult. The government is forcing us to choose between following our faith and following the law. I say that's a choice no American and no American business should have to make.

The government cannot force you to follow laws that go against your fundamental religious belief. They have exempted thousands of companies but will not except Christian organizations including the Catholic church.

Since you will not see this covered in any of the liberal media, pass this on to all your contacts.

Sincerely,
David Green, CEO and Founder of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.

What,,,,,, NO Card???????

Hi Everyone!!!
What,,,,,,,No Card today?
Will let me tell you why.  Today I went to our NEW MICHAELS store!!
Can you believe it??? We did not have one for 30 or 40 miles in either direction.  But I would make the trip whenever I could make an excuse to go.  Or when a friend would be going and ask if I wanted to tag along....(what a dumb question-hah) !
But NOW I can go when ever I want....
The GRAND OPENING isn't till Sunday the 12th, but today was the first day of the pre-opening.  They had some things at 40% off but no coupons yet, one of the gals there said there would be great deals Sunday for the Grand Opening.... Will I wasn't going to go, but after hearing that, willllll what do you think?
Of course I'm going!
I don't know about the rest of you out there but I really love going there.  And by the look and sound of the rest of the Ladies I meet there we all felt the same.  I talked with several of the ladies there, and we were all excited and smiling and chatting... no one knew each other but we talked like we did...
I had a good time and could not wait to tell everyone!

Thanks for stopping by again!
Hope you Enjoyed!!
